Getting New Members Enrollment

One thing that I've noticed that when people join, they tend to struggle getting started in Pathways. I looked at one of my club's rosters and noticed that the majority of new people hadn't enrolled in Pathways yet.

I tried sending out an email that simplified the process and it seemed to work.  All of a sudden the percentages of new members enrolled jumped to over 60%.

Here is the contents of the email:
You can start by going to the Pathways page on the Toastmasters International website.


You will need to reset your password so that you can log in. You will be able to take the assessment and choose a path.  While it's recommended to choose one of the suggested paths, you are free to select whichever path you would like.

A Different Look at the Intro to Mentoring Project (Level 2)

One thing about Pathways is that you're doing an Introduction to Toastmaster Mentoring Project for each Path regardless of whether you are interested in the Pathways Mentor Certification or not and whether or not you've already completed it.  I've noticed that people are apprehensive about doing it because they're either afraid of sharing or just don't want to. Yes, the project wants you to talk about the time that you were a protege, but it doesn't say how much detail you have to go into.  One thing to remember is that everyone was at one point in time a protege. Base Camp Manager Training

When Pathways launched in February 2018 for my Districts, I wasn't in an official position that had access to Base Camp Manager.  One of the things that I noticed was having our launch moved up to February from May in December 2017, made it really hard to fully understand Pathways, even for someone like me who wanted to embrace Pathways. First, you had the struggles of people thinking that had submitted the request to move on only to later find out they never clicked "Submit" on the after assessment. Second, you had people missing the training that was offered by their Guides and Ambassadors or somewhat absent Guides and Ambassadors.  Overall, people just weren't interested in learning about Pathways when it first rolled out. The End of the Traditional Program (for me, pretty much)

It's kind of bittersweet, I started in the Traditional program when I first joined Toastmasters in 2014 and it's the program that I grew up on including getting my first DTM in 2018, but I've also engaged with Pathways and have practically completed 2 paths (one project shy currently). Why am I talking about the end of the traditional program?  Well, my last Competent Communicator Award was submitted (and aside from maybe another CL and an ALB, if they help my clubs), I have officially transitioned completely to Pathways.
